Sorry, but I got tired of keeping this up each week and it is redundant. Just go to the official Carnival wiki for past and future Carnivals.
[edit] What the heck is a Blog Carnival?
An aggregation/roundup of the most interesting posts over a period of time, usually centering on a certain theme. The Carnival closes up shop and moves to a new blog location every week. The host blog's author becomes the editor of the Carnival for that week. The advantages of this are:
a) it takes the burden off of a single person
b) new host means new setting and often a fresh editorial perspective
c) willing hosts get great exposure for their blogs and willing readers similarly get exposed to blog authors they may not have encountered previously
(blatantly taken almost whole cloth from Greg's original post)
[edit] How Do I Participate?
See the Carnival of the Infoscience Wiki for full details and hosting schedule.
[edit] History of the Carnival of the Infosciences
The Carnival of the Infosciences was the idea of Greg Schwartz of Open Stacks. He proposed the idea to the biblioblogosphere on 16 July 2005. Greg hosted the first two Carnivals and then it hit the road.
[edit] UIUC GSLIS-affiliated Hosts
Greg Schwartz (alumnus) Open Stacks
Mark Lindner (alumnus and current CAS student) ...the thoughts are broken...
Sorry this isn't better kept up, but I really have no good way of knowing these people's school affiliations.
