Today is September 3, 2010. This UGWiki has been live since Saturday, December 11, 2004

The unofficial GSLIS Wiki was started by Cameron Jones who downloaded and installed MediaWiki software on a private server, and purchased the domain, www.gslis.org for five years.

[edit] People Outside GSLIS Know the UGWiki Exists!!!

On Thursday, March 17, 2005 (or thereabouts), the UGWiki was mentioned in a presentation given by Will Richardson from Weblogg-ed ( http://www.weblogg-ed.com/ ) given at the Computers In Libraries 2005 conference ( http://www.infotoday.com/cil2005/ ).

Don't believe it? Check out:

His own reflections on the presentation don't mention us:

One of our alumns was there. He mentioned that Will Richardson thought we were official, and that he was surprised to find out that we weren't:

"I was at Computers in Libraries this past week. There was a presentation by Will Richardson on wikis and he showed the GSLIS wiki as an example! I had to tell him after his presentation that it wasn't affiliated with the school. At first he seemed disappointed and that he should pull it from future presentations, but I pointed out that it was a great example of collaborative work generated by students and he seemed pleased with that. So he'll keep it in future presentations."
